Around Rome
Castelgandolfo ( the Pope's summer residence) and
The Roman Castles area (Roman Hills).
Castelgandolfo only 40 minutes far from Rome was and still is the Pope's summer residence since many centuries.
The village is located on the border of the Albano lake (Ancient Vulcano million years ago).
The Pope's Palace built by Maderno in the late Renaissance time preserves Bernini's masterpieces. Beautiful fountain and church in the main square in front of the palace and nice souvenirs shops will interest you during your walk in the village.
Will continue later to another nice local hilltown such as Frascati where we can stop in a winery for a wine testing of the local red and white wines and then walk in the narrow streets full of shops selling wine, bread, Porchetta (Pork overcooked outside but almost uncooked inside) and souvenirs.
At the end of the tour will drive back to your hotel in Rome.
